Charles Taylor appoints Richard Wood as Chief Executive, Americas in succession to Joe Roach

Professional insurance services provider, Charles Taylor, has appointed Richard Wood as Chief Executive Officer, Management Services - Americas from 1 January 2017 in succession to Joe Roach who has retired from the business. Richard is now responsible for leading and developing Charles Taylor’s Management Services business across the Americas.

Charles Taylor is the manager of Signal Mutual, the largest provider of Longshore workers’ compensation insurance to the US maritime industry. It also provides a wide range of insurance support services across the Americas, including, third party claims administration, captive management, risk consulting and safety management services. Richard and his team work closely with Charles Taylor’s loss adjusting businesses in the Americas, which specialises in the settlement of larger and more complex losses arising from major insured incidents and claims, along with the wider Charles Taylor Group. Charles Taylor recently announced the appointment of Vince Cole as Chief Executive Officer and Regional Head of Charles Taylor Adjusting for the USA.

Richard Wood succeeds Joe Roach, who has retired after 21 years leading Charles Taylor Americas. Richard has over forty years’ experience in the marine insurance industry joining Charles Taylor from average adjuster, Richards Hogg International, in 2001 as vice president of marketing and underwriting for Signal Mutual in Houston. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2005 moving to Wilton, CT. He was appointed President in June 2014.
