About This Individual
Paul is both a qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Loss Adjuster having graduated from Kingston University (UK) in 1982 with a degree in Quantity Surveying. Post-graduation he entered a consultancy where he was engaged in all aspects of construction cost consultancy, supervision and contract formulation with regard to commercial and industrial real estate. Paul qualified by examination to achieve Chartered status which he has held since 1985.
In 1987 he embarked on a career in Loss Adjusting, initially joining Chartered Loss Adjusters Ellis & Buckle and later moving to Scully Tyrrell Putman & Company who, through merger, became part of Robins Davis & Little (GAB Robins). Following an initial grounding in general property and liability claims, Paul progressed to Divisional Manager. He was responsible for the management of accounts and the adjustment of a variety of large and technically complex losses including those resulting from acts of terrorism.
In 2000 Paul commenced his international adjusting career moving to Mexico with an International Adjusting firm where he gained exposure to the power generation and on-shore oil and gas industries. He later transferred to Indonesia to supplement experience attained elsewhere and gain exposure to heavy process engineering losses. In 2002 Paul was asked to join the company’s New York, USA office in order to deal with the challenging claims arising from 9/11, including the reconstruction of the subway system and property losses sustained by financial institutions.
In 2004 he was elevated to Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (UK) and gained European Loss Adjusting Expert accreditation. Paul remained in the USA for 10 years during which he was involved in a variety of complex energy, power generation, engineering, property and business interruption losses both within the USA and overseas. Additionally he supervised adjusting expertise beyond the USA in respect of global accounts. Paul was also deployed in catastrophe responses in Belize, El Salvador, Bermuda, Grenada, Chile and Thailand and assisted in the supervision of the company’s response following Hurricane Katrina.
In September 2012 Paul transferred to Sydney in Australia to provide adjusting expertise in the energy, power generation and construction fields. Paul joined Charles Taylor Adjusting in May 2014 to take up the role of State Manager NSW, Senior Engineering Adjuster. Paul focuses on managing major losses throughout Australasia on behalf of CTA’s clients with a particular emphasis on natural resources and power industry claims.
